VINEYARD

The Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne are grown on the De Bortoli Shelley’s Vineyard on the eastern edge of the Rutherglen region. The site has interesting gravel, clay and alluvial soil mix.

FOOD PAIRING

Pairs well with creamy pasta sauces or spicy Asian cuisine.

WINEMAKING

The wine was fermented using a mix of tank fermentation and French oak barrels. Following fermentation, the wine was then aged on lees for 7 months. Stirring and malolactic fermentation was avoided to retain the natural acidity and drive of the wine and so not to interfere with the wine’s bright zesty fruit profile.

Light to mid-yellow colour with a rich, stone-fruit bouquet reflecting peach and apricot and a spice note that reminds a little of gewürztraminer - from the viognier, no doubt. The wine is full and rounded, soft and generous in the mouth. A lovely wine, balanced and ample, and complex, layered with flavours that entertain. 93/100.
