St Valentine had an unfortunate end on the 14th February 270 A.D.
He most seriously upset Emperor Claudius the Cruel in Rome. Claudius forbad weddings and engagements in the belief that these romantic dalliances deterred individuals joining the Roman Legions.
Despite the ban on weddings, Valentine, a Roman priest, continued to perform marriages. Unfortunately, he was found out.
So that you do not fall out with your nearest and dearest, or your Claudius or Claudia we would suggest that you most definitely remember and celebrate the 14th February 2021, St Valentine’s Day. It’s a Sunday.
